How to backup your Xperia Android phone
The Xperia models come with different versions of Android so the options
for making a backup looks different depending on version of OS.
Check your Android version in this menu.
Menu > Settings >
About Phone > Android version.
For Android 1.6 (Donut) phones:
First go to this menu to enable Unknown sources: Menu > Applications
> Check Unknown sources.
Now open you browser and go to the address: m.sonyericsson.com/backup
An download of Backup and restore will appear in the notification bar, drop it down and when it’s finished downloading press on it, select to install.

Now Backup and restore will appear in your application drawer. Open your
application drawer and press Backup and restore to make a backup of your phone
data to the SD card.
If you’re going to update your Android 1.6 phone to 2.3 or later skip the
step above and read the information bellow.
For Android (Éclair) 2.1
phones:
Same as above, difference being that the Backup and restore application is
included in Android 2.1. But if you’re going to update your Android 2.1 phone
to 2.3 or later you should read the information bellow.
For Android (Gingerbread) 2.3
or later phones:
There is unfortunately no backup application included. Read information
bellow for more info on how to backup your Gingerbread phone.
Note that if you’re updating
your phone from Android 1.6 or 2.1 to 2.3 or higher this version of the Backup
and restore application will no longer be supported. So therefore I suggest that you use any other application from Market to
backup your phone data.
Like MyBackup, which is available in both free and paid version.

The free version is limited to 30 days and can't move backup's between
phone models.
If you’ve already made that update from Android 1.6/2.1 to 2.3 check this thread for more info:
This is no official solution.
